About Us
GoWithGuide is a tour marketplace that connects tourists and tour guide professionals.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Tech Lead who is first and foremost a strong engineer. You will own the most critical features of our platform, lead a small remote engineering team, and serve as the bridge between our product manager and the engineering team.
This is not a meetings-and-management role. You will write code every day — architecting systems, building features, and reviewing what the team produces. You’ll also help shape what we build by providing technical perspective to product decisions.
What You’ll Do
Build (primary)
- Code the most critical and complex features of the platform
- Architect backend services and APIs using TypeScript and Node.js
- Design and implement system-level solutions for scalability and performance
- Build AI-powered features and agents to automate business workflows and enhance the product
Guide
- Review code from the engineering team — judge correctness, security, and quality
- Help engineers design solutions before they build — system design, data modeling, API design
- Set and enforce coding standards, testing practices, and security guidelines
- Define and lead the AI-driven development strategy for the team — establish how engineers use AI tools (Claude, Cursor, Copilot) in their daily workflow, train the team on best practices, and continuously evolve our approach as AI tooling advances
Bridge
- Work directly with the product manager to translate business requirements into technical plans
- Provide technical advice on product decisions — what’s feasible, what’s risky, what’s the right approach
- Break down large features into clear, actionable tasks for the engineering team
- Ensure what gets built actually matches what the product team intended
Lead
- Manage and mentor the engineering team
- Focus on technical mentorship — helping engineers grow their skills and take on harder problems
- Coordinate work across time zones and ensure the team delivers consistently
Required Skills
Backend (most important)
- TypeScript: 3+ years, deep knowledge — this is our core language
- Node.js: 3+ years building backend services, APIs, business logic
- Backend architecture experience — you’ll own the most critical server-side code
Frontend
- Experience building web applications with a modern frontend framework
- React experience is ideal; Next.js is a strong plus
- Angular, Vue.js, or other frameworks are acceptable — frontend patterns are transferable
General
- Fluent English — all team communication is in English
- Experience leading or mentoring a small engineering team (1-2+ years)
- Experience working with product managers or stakeholders to define what to build
- Comfort working fully remote across time zones
Nice to Have
- GraphQL (schema design, resolvers, client integration)
- Next.js (SSR, SSG, app router)
- TailwindCSS
- React Native
- AWS (infrastructure, deployment)
- Jest + React Testing Library
- Figma (collaborating with design)
- Experience with AI-driven development — using AI coding tools as a core part of your workflow, building AI agents for business automation, or integrating LLM APIs into products
- Experience defining AI development strategies for engineering teams
What We Offer
- International startup environment
- Fully remote — work from anywhere with reasonable JST overlap
- Paid leave (10+ days per year)
- Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays off
- Option for one consecutive month of leave per year
